a difference. the difference is what barack obama does in the next two rounds. it was a very poor performance. you have to give credit to mitt romney who was on his game he made his arguments. not say that he very from the truth, that is neither here nor there. he argued the case effectively. >> the economy created 5 billion -- million jobs in the past few years. is that true? >> i do not know. these numbers are so squishy. it is not 100% clear to me who is right about jobs. what i know is when they were saying on friday morning when they release those numbers, that for the first time, more people who were out of the work force were getting jobs. that is news. >> it is also important to keep in mind who had been hard hit by the economy. largely younger americans, african-americans, or hispanics. those who are either not going to vote or are supporting president obama. so i think you have got a pool of swing voters out there who are actually doing better right now in this economy than many people. >> let us talk about entitlements. >> if you are 60 or older, you do not need to listen any furth

for the next round? >> this wasn't just about performance. the obama folks think it's style and performs and and looking down instead of looking up. last night was about substance. looked at president obama and said you paid for obama-care by cutting $716 billion from medicare. you didn't have to do it. president obama had no answer. mitt romney said president obama you talk about a few tax breaks for the oil and gas industry. you have given much more tax breaks to the alternative energy energy and you have nothing to show for it. president obama just looked at him. at the end of the day barack obama couldn't engage on substance last night. the facts aren't going to get any better between thousand and the next two debates. the alternative energy market is not going to start working in the next two weeks. the obama economic policies aren't going to be working in the effect two weeks. it wasn't about style. it's about substance and obama not being able to stand on his own record. that record is not going to change between now and the next debate. martha: thank you for being with us today.

the employees before election day, but not so fast. obama administration says warning workers in the next few months is inappropriate. even saying that government will pick up some company legal bills in case layoff workers sue because their bosses failed to give them enough warning. republicans charge the administration is trying to prevent voters in swing states from getting layoff notices days before the election. in a letter to the office of management and budget, republican senator john mccain, kelly aott and lindsey graham say president obama put his own re-election ahead of the interest of working american. and obama administration is cynically trying to skirt the warn act to keep american people in dark about the looming national security and fiscal crisis. now other republicans are demanding the legal justif justification for the move. there is political uncertainty surrounding the cut and the pentagon says it's not even fully planning for them, preferring that congress reverse them. they say the automatic cut will be gradual. >> what would be affected is the awarding of new contract

for the next four years they will be looking at this person. they know what obama is like. they know many people support him. at this point in time they don't know enough about romney and the specifics on his vision. he needs to lay some of that out. bill: in terms of specifics, maybe you hang one fact out there. i'm going to take the unemployment rate and do this with it. >> you have to be factual on those things. he laid out a tax plan without any details, what does that mean? bill: do you find most guys cheer their guy and boot other one? >> usually debates reinforce the side you are on. you look for the good points. center few people are totally neutral going in and it's not entertaining, it's educational. bill: that contradicts the point about saying maybe in the case of governor romney. there is a sliver of people saying i don't know enough about this guy. if he convinces me, he might get my vote. >> i think that's important. if the election were held by the polls he's a few points behind. he needs the debates to change the dynamics where people say this is a down to the wire race.
